Who uses Respite Care?
Traditionally, Respite Care has been used by the families of children with developmental disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, or Autism. However, Respite has been used successfully by child abuse prevention programs to help stem instances of child abuse in families at risk. Also, people caring for a terminally ill or elderly parent or relative can benefit from this time to maintain healthy stress levels. In fact, anyone overwhelmed by the duties of care-giving can benefit from a temporary relief.
